Native Iowa Wines
» Our bed and breakfast is located in the Upper Mississippi Valley Wine Region, and we have the beautiful scenic Iowa Wine Trail that you can follow. Wineries can be visited almost daily, and visitors can sample award winning wines and sparkling ciders. Our region has soils, slopes and aquifers well suited for irrigation drainage, circulation and sun to produce the best grapes. Here at Quiet Walker Lodge, we offer for sale some of the best of our Native Iowa Wines. So, as you spend time here at the lodge, consider purchasing some of our Iowa wine to enjoy!
On-site Walking Paths
» Here at Quiet Walker Lodge, we have two walking paths that will take you through portions of the forest reserve. The Julian walking path is our short walk on the west end of the property. We just planted several Autumn Blaze maple trees along this segment to reclaim more of our forest area. In the next several years it is our plan to continue planting more trees in this area for guests to further enjoy the beauty of nature found on our property.
» Our second walking path is the Fox-Sax. Named after the Native Americans who once inhabited this area, this trail is somewhat steeper and cuts through the forest reserve.
» Though short by comparison to the Heritage Trail, our walking paths will expose you to the beauty of nature found at Quiet Walker Lodge and prepare you for your Heritage Trail adventure.
» The lodge also features a song bird garden with pathways and a large log bench to sit and enjoy the garden, the birds and the solitude. Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate!
The Heritage Trail
» If you are looking for a longer trail experience, consider the Heritage Trail. Located about one mile from the lodge, this trail runs 29 miles between Dubuque and Dyersville. The crushed-limestone trail follows an old railroad line that was used by the Chicago Northwestern. Many visitors enjoy biking the trail and looking at many remnants of the area's milling and mining ventures.
» Trail activities: Biking, Inline Skating, Fishing, Snow mobiling, Walking, Cross Country Skiing
